Coming through the field? This was coming through the field…

Mike’s busy racing season continued at Snetterton the weekend before last in our Ford Anglia 105E.

In his first visit to the track he qualified a respectable 15th (2nd in class) in a field of 36 with a time of 2.32.438. However the drama began on the first corner of Race 1 where a crash involving multiple cars brought out the red flag. It was a pretty nasty crash involving a couple of Anglia’s and an Imp.

This video was an onboard from one of the unlucky Anglias (Robin Slater):

And from a very lucky Mini:

As you can see from the video Mike’s number 60 Anglia narrowly avoided the spins so was able to take the restart. However he stalled when pulling away for the second warm up lap therefore starting the race from the back of the grid.

Not one to let this affect him Mike drove the race of his life passing over 20 cars to finish in 10th taking the Class C victory and his fastest lap 3 seconds faster than qualifying – not bad at all! We’ll have the onboard video for this next week.

Race 2 didn’t start so dramatically, but unfortunately finished a little suddenly. After getting a decent start Mike was running a decent 11th until his engine gave way and he retired on lap 4.

A disappointing end to Mike’s best race yet and we’ll post our onboards next week.
