It was another busy day at Silverstone yesterday with us entering Race 2 in the MG Trophy at Silverstone followed by the 40 minute Enduro at the end of the day.
Race 2 went well for Marc starting from 36th as he initially found some more speed and kept pace with the pack. However as this was his first ever race weekend he was pushing a little too hard and managed a 360 at Becketts which cost him 10 seconds. In the end he finished he finished first in class, but 35th with the MGOC entries included. His fastest lap was a 2.25.7 which was 4 seconds faster than he managed on Friday!
David was still struggling with engine issues so had a much quieter race to finish 36th. This meant that his 65 was substituted off for the Enduro, with Mike and David racing Marc’s 95 instead. After having sunshine the whole weekend the heavens suddenly opened ten minutes before the Enduro started meaning it was a very wet race!
Starting from 30th David had an eventful 20 minute stint – getting rather too close to a MG ZS on a couple of occasions as the right and left front panels now show. We were running as high as 3rd when David pitted and switched drivers with Mike. Mike steadily took the 95 home with some on track battles posting a fastest lap of a 2.55.2- not bad considering it was weather more suited to ducks! In the end we finished 19th out of 35 – so a great result.
Thanks to everyone who came along to support us – including Jan, Andrea, Suzi and all of the guys from the MGF Register. It was a great weekend and we look forward to seeing some of you at Mike’s next HSCC race at Brands Hatch in July.
We’ll have some videos and photos to post up hopefully this evening- so please check back later!
